Farce
Being settled into our middle age - and with the children all able to look after themselves - the calendar of 'just us two' excursions has steadily increased: Mrs B and I striking out from our Forest of Dean idyll to catch a bit o'culture, innit.
Cirencester is a charming Cotswold town in the south of Gloucestershire that is, thankfully, far enough away from the horror that is Swindon* to escape tarnishing. On the periphery, conveniently close to the dual carriageway, is The Barn Theatre with an affiliated hotel (Ingleside House) and restaurant (Téatro); it is to here that Friday sent us all anticipating a bit of classic English comedy theatre...after we'd had a slap up supper first, of course:

The Archers is legendary British radio; a continuing drama about farming folk that has entertained our grandparents, parents and ourselves since 1951**

As you might expect, we have the board game in the Museum.
Haywire is a play-within-a-play retelling of the story of how the show came about: strong, post-War Ministerial meddling against a sceptical BBC. Humourous - sometimes farcical - and always honouring its subject, Haywire was a lot of fun.
And talking of 'farcical', this thread popped up on the Facebooks contemporaneously:
